Explore Boards

My blogger just introduced Explore Boards. This is to help their students build background knowledge of Tulsa before reading the book The Outsiders. The main focus of the explore board is to fuel the students comprehension. The purpose of the explore board was to create a board filled with a variety of learning choices. There are different types of media on the board the surround the specific topic. This provides students with a diverse was of building their background knowledge. PROS: -Multimedia platforms -Fuels student comprehension -Variety of different learning choices to build comprehension CONS: -Have to create new board for each topic - I like the diversity of the explore board. I like that it used multiple types of media to expose the students to. I would give this 4/5 stars.

Pros and Cons of Technology Use in the Classroom

Technology has come a long way, especially in education. Technology is constantly make changes and improvements every single day. Today, technology has made many gains, but with those gains, comes some losses. Some of the gains that schools have made with the use of technology today is the increase of engagement for all students. Students seem to be more engaged with the use of tech in the classrooms. Teachers have access to all different modes of presenting and teaching, thanks to technology. Technology also brings excitement to people of all ages. GimKit

GimKit is an educational game inside of a game created by a high school student and his friends. GimKit keeps students engaged and excited. There is GimKit Live and GimKit Ink. GimKit Live is the educational game that can be catered and altered for students of all ages. There are several pros to this education gaming tool, but there are also some cons. Some of the pros include the capability to create your own kit. I think that is similar to Kahoot. I like that you can choose the language in which you would like it presented, record yourself reading the question and choose an image that relates to the question. This is a great platform for students of all ages and abilities. Another pro to this tech opportunity is that you can also create flashcards for your students to utilize. Gim Kit also offers premade kits, teachers are able to search in the premade kits section to use. Perks of Having Chromebooks and iPads Accessible for ALL Students and Teachers

After reading a section from one of my preferred Ed Tech Bloggers, Inufsed Classrooms, I was in complete aggreance with the blogger when she discussed the pros of students and teachers to have access to Chromebooks and iPads. Something that was suggested by her was that a school who is 1:1 with Chromebooks provide their teachers with access to iPads as well. It does not need to be 1:1 for iPads, but it could be a cart that could be utilized by classroom teachers for their students. For example, iPhones are the most common phone used in America today. As educators, we are preparing our students for the rest of their lives. If students have access to iPads, they will learn to properly utlize an apple product. Having access to both types of devices will also support meeting the needs of all students. Some students may benefit more from an iPad than a Chromebook given the task on hand.
